Art Nouveau in Brussels - Lectures in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka about 3D restitutions of Art Nouveau buildings

This series of four lectures was organized as part of the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belgium and Japan. Introduced by our Dean, Marcelle Rabinowicz, and enriched by the expert contributions of Benjamin Zurstrassen (Horta Museum), Guy Conde-Reis (Urban.brussels), and Isabelle Leroy (Urban.brussels), these presentations, delivered in Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, focused on Brussels’ Art Nouveau architectural heritage and its digital 3D representation.

These lectures provided an opportunity to share our laboratory’s research on two Brussels masterpieces that are either inaccessible or no longer exist: Victor Horta’s Maison du Peuple and Josef Hoffmann’s Stoclet Palace. These scientific exchanges not only enabled us to present and compare our perspectives on heritage valorization and the documentation methods employed in our research, but also demonstrated our shared commitment to increasing opportunities for student and faculty exchanges between our respective institutions.

A mission such as this would not have been possible without the invaluable support of many individuals and partners. Our sincere thanks go to:
